Candy Land Birthday Bash

June 5th was my baby girl's birthday!!! She turned 3 years old and we had a Candy Land party after her favorite board game. I am going to stray a little and talk about the whole party here as I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. We started by ordering some custom invites for the theme with which I failed miserably and had to hand write information on them all. We decorated the entry way with "lollipops" and "candy canes", made a candy cane tree, and had candy to decorate the tables.

For activities were playing on the jungle gym, making candy necklaces, decorating balloons and a live action Candy Land game. The activity that took the least amount of thought (balloons) was the favorite and the live action game was pure chaos. My daughter and two of her friends just ran laps around the "game board" while 2-3 kids actually participated. The two winners received a Candy Land board game (Target sometimes has great deals on these) and the others all received stickers.

Lastly we had a candy bar and cupcakes as dessert/favors. Over all it was a lot of fun and my beautiful birthday girl had a great time with her friends.

Breakfast at Tiffany's bridal shower

The following weekend I was hired to make some Breakfast at Tiffany's themed cupcakes. I haven't worked with red velvet a lot so I had to do some recipe experimenting for a couple weekends and eventually came up with a cake and frosting combo I thought tasted right together. Everything but the square "diamonds" were safe to eat. I was a little nervous about the red cupcake and blue frosting combo but made it work nicely I think

Experiments

I have had a busy couple weeks so I will be catching up with all the creations I've made recently. Memorial day weekend we had a big family gathering where I was asked to make a cake for the kid's joint birthday celebration. I decided to use this as an opportunity to experiment! First, I made my first attempt at a topsy turvy cake. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be but also could greatly use improvement. The second experiment was with marshmallow fondant. Unfortunately I must have done something wrong because it was too gooey and slowly bunched to the bottom as you can see in the photo. Either way, the kids loved it and it was a great learning experience.

Reese's Peanut Butter Frosting

Husband made a most delicious cake this week that was chocolate with a peanut butter buttercream of sorts. It had chopped up reese's cups in it and turned out glorious, unfortunately I didn't think to take a picture as it looked as good as it tasted. The beauty is you get the full peanut butter/chocolate taste but I was able to eat a HUGE piece (for lunch) without feeling sick or needing milk! Every sweet lover's dream

I have been wanting to experiment with some new flavors and thanks to my husbands craving for peanut butter I have a recipe to add to my list of flavor options. Thanks!

Peter Rabbit Baby Shower

Here is my most recent creation which turned out absolutely adorable. This Peter Rabbit cake was for my good friend's baby shower. The Peter Rabbit cake topper was provided by the mom to be and the veggies made from fondant.

Easter

I found this idea for Easter cupcakes last year and gave them a shot. They were a hit with adults and children

Hello Kitty Birthday Party

This was my first paid project, Hello Kitty for a 5th birthday party. It was a lot of fun but Hello Kitty is harder to make than she looks!
